Eduardo
“Ed” Gumucio was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia in 1965 and moved to the United
States when he was three years old. He
grew up in both countries, alternating school years, which made him fully
bilingual in English and Spanish. Ed
became a US Citizen in 1974. Having
lived, studied, and worked in a Spanish speaking country for 9 years, Ed is able
to share, in detail, cultural aspects, which help his company’s clients gain a
better understanding of the differences that often influence the work
environment. Ed
received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M
University in 1988. He managed a
leading business services company for 11 years prior to opening his Customized
Spanish Training Company – Ablemos. With
visions of helping companies develop their employees to competitively operate in
today’s multicultural environment as well as reach out to the growing Hispanic
population to diversify or grow their customer base, Ablemos has grown
significantly over the past 3 years. Ed
chaired the Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s “multi-cultural” task force
for three years. He helped to bring
the first multi-cultural business forums to Nashville, which have since become
an annual event adopted by the Nashville Chamber.
In recognition for this work, Ed was named the Southern Area Business
Council’s volunteer of the year in 1999. He is the current chair of the
Nashville Chamber’s Southern Area Business Council. Ed
serves as a Board of Trustees member for Southern Hills Medical Center and is a
member of The Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. |
